St. Scholastica will host its 5th Annual Teaching Matters Symposium next week.
"Teaching Matters: Current Issues in Education" will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5 in the Mitchell Auditorium on campus. The event will feature keynote speaker Corey Bulman, 2017 Minnesota Teacher of the Year.
Bulman will share his own story as it relates to the impact of education, tracing his high school experience through to his role as a classroom teacher today. He will discuss his recipe for success: purposefully connecting students to themselves, sparking curiosity in students toward the curriculum and life, and empowering their voices to allow them to engage in learning in authentic ways.
The event is being sponsored by the The College of St. Scholastica's Student Education Association. Continuing Education Units are available. Organizers say it will create an educational conversation around the issues that affect schools and classrooms in Minnesota.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Neil Witikko at 218-723-6155 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
