Career Outlook

Students in this program have found work as sales agents for laboratory equipment and pharmaceutical firms as well as lab technicians. Others have gone on to professional or graduate programs in patent law, environmental studies, forensics, medicine, optometry, pharmacy, dentistry and physician assistant.

Benedictine Scholarship

All new first-year applicants to St. Scholastica will be awarded either the Benedictine Scholarship or the Access Award, upon admission to the College.

Financial Aid

100% of traditional incoming undergraduates receive some type of scholarships. The average for scholarships, grants and/or loans is $31,841.

Engineering Dual Degree Pathway

This dual degree program, jointly offered by The College of St. Scholastica and Minnesota State University, Mankato, prepares students for high-demand engineering careers. You will complete three years of foundational coursework in natural sciences, mathematics and engineering prerequisites with St. Scholastica. This will give you the opportunity to take advantage of St. Scholastica’s tight-knit community while you pursue you degree in natural sciences and develop soft skills such as critical thinking, and written and oral communication.

Then you will advance into MSU Mankato’s Iron Range Engineering (IRE) program to complete your engineering courses mostly online, with six months of coursework on site in Virginia, MN. IRE is an internationally recognized leader in innovation and engineering education with strong partnerships with local and regional engineering companies. The curriculum also includes a paid industry internship, which will let you gain hands-on experience before graduation.

In just five years, you will earn both a BA in Natural Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE), with the flexibility to focus on a variety of engineering disciplines. You will be equipped for a career in mechanical, electrical or biomedical engineering, as well as being prepared to work in renewable energy and more. With dedicated academic support and a culminating capstone project, this unique program blends academic excellence with real-world application, ensuring you are career-ready at graduation.

Dual Degree Tuition, Fees and Curriculum

Tuition and Fees

Dual Degree students will be St. Scholastica students and will be billed for tuition and fees at the current St. Scholastica main campus rate during semesters when a student is only enrolled in courses taught through St. Scholastica. During terms when a St. Scholastica student is taking Minnesota State Mankato courses under a consortium agreement, St. Scholastica will bill students for the Minnesota State Mankato courses at the tuition rate they charge for courses taken in residence through the Integrated Engineering Program. Students will also be billed for applicable St. Scholastica fees during the terms when they are enrolled in Minnesota State Mankato courses under the consortium agreement. Students in the dual degree program will pay through St. Scholastica for their entire student experience. Contact admissions for more information about tuition for the dual degree pathway.

Dual Degree Admissions Information

Enroll at St. Scholastica

Students interested in this dual-degree program have the flexibility to remain enrolled at St. Scholastica while completing coursework onsite in Virginia, MN and taking online engineering courses through MSU Mankato. This allows you to maintain full access to St. Scholastica resources, including financial aid, academic advising, career services and student support. Alternatively, you can choose to transfer fully to MSU Mankato, depending on your academic and career goals.

Graduates of the program will receive a BA in Natural Science from The College of St. Scholastica and a BSE in Engineering from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Students will submit an application for admission to St. Scholastica along with all required transcripts and application materials. Students will complete general education and pre-engineering courses at St. Scholastica, along with courses for the Natural Sciences major.

Application Process for Admission to the Integrated Engineering Program

Students who maintain the following criteria are guaranteed admission to the Integrated Engineering Program.

  • 2.5 GPA or above for all undergraduate coursework taken
  • A minimum grade of C- is required in all prerequisite math, science and lower-division engineering courses. Courses taken on a pass/no credit basis will not be accepted to satisfy prerequisite requirements for the Integrated Engineering program.

One semester prior to completing all of the engineering prerequisites, students will submit an application for admission to Minnesota State University, Mankato along with the application fee. Students may request a St. Scholastica transcript to be sent to Minnesota State Mankato at no charge. Students will also need to apply to the Iron Range Engineering (IRE) program and complete a 2-day campus visit at IRE.
