St. Scholastica awards academic scholarships to all first-year students based on academic achievement and contributions made to one's schools and community, just by applying for admission!

No additional application is necessary for the following scholarships:
Benedictine Scholarship levels: (renewable)
Access Award: $15,000/year (renewable)
*Awarded to students not receiving a Benedictine Scholarship*
All new first-year applicants to St. Scholastica for the Fall of 2021 will be awarded either the Benedictine Scholarship, or the Access Award, upon admission to the College. The amount awarded is based on merit (curriculum, unweighted cumulative GPA, and ACT/SAT scores or essay).
Amount: $3,000 - $5,000 per year (renewable)
This is a scholarship for U.S. first-year students who are actively involved in an intensive, income-based college readiness program (this does not include PSEO, AP, IB, College in the Schools, Ramp Up to Readiness, etc). This scholarship is in addition to the student's Benedictine Scholarship.
$3,000 will be awarded automatically based on application for admission. An additional $2,000 will be awarded to recipients who also do an official Admissions visit to our Duluth campus or an individual virtual visit (for Fall 2021 only) prior to May 15.

The St. Scholastica Multicultural, Inclusion & Diversity Scholarship is designated to provide additional opportunities for students with an interest in advancing racial and social justice issues and demonstrate exceptional financial need. Preference will be afforded to students who have been traditionally underrepresented in American higher education, with an emphasis on students of color.
Applications are reviewed on an individual basis and award amounts are based on financial need.

Amount: Up to $18,000 per year (renewable)
The Ge-naadamaagoyan (that which helps you) Scholarship program is designated to provide significant scholarship opportunities to American Indian/Alaska Native students who demonstrate participation and commitment to advancing and/or preserving tribal communities’ traditions, which may include culture, language or history, and/or addressing contemporary social, economic or legal issues impacting tribal communities.
Applications are reviewed on an individual basis and award amounts are based on financial need.

The Sister Timothy Kirby Social Justice Scholarship program is designated to provide significant scholarship opportunities to students who demonstrate a substantial commitment to pluralism and the advancement of racial and social justice.
Applications are reviewed on an individual basis and award amounts are based on financial need. Preference will be afforded to students who have been traditionally underrepresented in American higher education, with an emphasis on students of color.

The Sharon Labovitz Scholarship recipient(s) will be selected based on academic credentials, extracurricular leadership activities, essay and recommendation form. The extra curricular activities can include a wide variety of things such as school, community, church and volunteer work. Leadership activities can be defined as developing a program, holding office, etc.

This competitive scholarship has been created to honor the memory of Sr. Mary Rochefort, a beloved member of the St. Scholastica Monastery for more than 50 years. Sr. Mary served the College as the Director of Mission Integration and was a role model for what “community” truly means. She exemplified the role of community builder and servant leader, one who places the interest of community first. She used her skills to nurture the children in the schools where she taught and was principal, and also in the St. Scholastica community through love, kindness and welcoming all people. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on top-level academic performance and demonstrated evidence of working to help build a positive, inclusive community and a desire to continue that at The College of St. Scholastica.
Community Builder - someone that takes time to build relationships that incorporate and promote Community, Hospitality, Respect, Stewardship, and Love of Learning.

Scholarships are available for Music majors and minors to pay for private lessons on a major instrument or voice. Scholarships require an audition and are based on talent and musical potential.

The John Baggs Memorial Scholarship was established to award scholarship funding to a student who demonstrates a commitment to community service and creative ability in communications.

The St. Scholastica Poetry Scholarship is both an opportunity to recognize students interested in writing poetry and a point of entry into the CSS community of committed writers and artists.
To apply for this scholarship, applicants must submit their poem. All poems will be reviewed by English Department Chair, Dr. Ryan Vine, a nationally-published poet. Winners will be selected based on how best they express themselves with language (best words, best order) and will be awarded:
First place: $1,000 St. Scholastica scholarship and an opportunity to be a submissions editor for the Freshwater Review, St. Scholastica’s annual, national journal of literature and art.
Runners up (two students): $500 St. Scholastica scholarship and an opportunity to be a submissions editor for the Freshwater Review.
The scholarship is open to high school seniors who will be enrolled as a full-time student at The College of St. Scholastica in the upcoming fall. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
Deadline: Application must be submitted at least 7 days prior to the audition date you wish to attend (dates below), or sooner if possible. Application submission closes May 1.
Amount: Up to $4,000 per year
The St. Scholastica Music Department invites both music and non-music majors to apply for the Sister Monica Laughlin Music Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to students who have achieved success in their musical training and plan to continue to be involved in large ensembles at St. Scholastica.

Amount: $300 per year (renewable)
The Catholic Referral Scholarship is for incoming undergraduate students who have a referral form filled out by a priest, sister or other vowed religious. However, lay persons with leadership positions within the Catholic Church also may make referrals. Student must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.

Amount: $1,800 per year (renewable) for traditional undergraduate students and 5% per year (renewable) for graduate/extended online students.
St. Scholastica offers an award to students where two or more family members from the same immediate family are attending. This includes siblings or step-siblings, parent/child or stepparent/stepchild, or spouses.

Amount: $5,000 (renewable for up to 3 additional years - until completion of Bachelors degree)
The Polish Heritage Scholarship was established to award scholarship funding to Polish nationals (living in Poland or the U.S.) and/or to U.S. citizens of Polish ancestry.

For all of the scholarships above, student must be an incoming first-year student enrolled full-time in the traditional day program on the Duluth campus. The total amount of scholarships/grants (including Benedictine Scholarship, other CSS gift/scholarship aid, state grant, and federal grant funding) cannot exceed the cost of tuition. Student must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) as defined by the College (minimum GPA of 2.0 and 67% completion ratio).

If you are a current high school student, get to know your guidance counselor. These people are an excellent point of contact in learning about scholarship opportunities that your school and community may offer.
Many employers, clubs, religious affiliations and organizations offer scholarships. You won't know if you don't ask!

There are many books and publications devoted to help students locate outside scholarships.
The Ordean Foundation offers scholarships to full-time juniors or seniors from Duluth, Proctor, Hermantown, or one of the surrounding townships. Recipients must also be Accounting, Business Management, Computer Information Systems, Education (Elementary Education, or Secondary Teaching Licensure), Health Information Management, Management, Nursing, Organizational Leadership (formerly Organizational Behavior), Post-Baccalaureate Nursing, Psychology, or Social Work majors. This scholarship is for low-income students who demonstrate financial need through the completion of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
