Jennifer Carlson to join St. Scholastica as vice president of Finance and Strategy
The College of St. Scholastica is pleased to announce that Jennifer Carlson (MA/MBA ’11) has accepted the position of vice president of Finance and Strategy, effective Aug. 25. Carlson has been director of finance for the City of Duluth since 2020, where she has been responsible for overseeing highly complex financial planning and serving as the chief financial advisor to the CAO and Mayor.
With more than 20 years of experience in government finance and management, Carlson brings a strong focus on fiscal sustainability and ensuring the long-term financial health of the organizations she has served. Along with her wealth of experience, she brings a collaborative mindset and forward-thinking approach to solving complex financial challenges.
“We are thrilled to have Jennifer join the Saints community as vice president of Finance and Strategy. Jennifer brings decades of financial expertise to this position and will be a great addition to the President’s Cabinet,” said President McDonald.
Carlson received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin and both a master of arts degree in management and a master of business administration from The College of St. Scholastica. After receiving her masters’ degrees, she participated in the Government Finance Officers Leadership Academy at the College of Charleston and is a certified public accountant. Carlson is active in the Duluth community and serves on several boards. She also volunteers as a Ministry Server at The Ruth House in Superior, WI.
