St. Scholastica to host annual Twin Ports Regional Thanksgiving Day Buffet
The College of St. Scholastica is proud to host the Twin Ports Region Thanksgiving Day Buffet, continuing its commitment to community engagement and hospitality. Set to take place at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC), this annual event is expected to draw a large crowd in 2025.
This year, community participation is more important than ever, with over 700 volunteers needed to prepare more than 6,000 meals. Additionally, approximately 1,200 of those meals will be delivered to those in need throughout the week of Thanksgiving. Each meal will feature the traditional components of a Thanksgiving feast, including turkey, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, vegetables, dinner roll, and cake for dessert. For those who are unable to attend in person, meals will be prepared for home delivery and fully cooked, packaged in individual serving containers.
The Thanksgiving dinner is offered free of charge, made possible through the generosity of the College, its donors, and numerous community supporters. St. Scholastica invites community members from the Twin Ports area, including Superior and the Two Harbors area, to gather at the DECC for a Thanksgiving Day celebration.
How to access meals
There are two ways that individuals and families can access meals:
Homebound individuals
For those who are homebound in the Twin Ports region (Duluth/Superior, Two Harbors, Hermantown, Esko and Cloquet), they can request a meal for themselves as well as their caregiver. Individuals requiring home delivery should sign up online at css.edu/thanksgiving (preferred due to call volume) or they can call 218-723-6484 to reserve their meals. Delivery requests must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21. Due to the high volume of requests, organizers ask that only those who are truly homebound request a meal.
Dining at the DECC
Dinner will be served from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27, at the DECC (350 Harbor Drive, Duluth, MN). There will be free DTA bus transportation; for more information, call 218-722-7283 or visit duluthtransit.com.
As always, any remaining food is rescued by Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank the day after Thanksgiving and is redistributed to area agencies.
