2021 Twin Ports Regional Event

Sadly, we cannot provide the community Thanksgiving buffet as we have in the past, due to COVID-19. In an effort to keep our community safe during this time, we’ve had to reimagine the traditional Thanksgiving meal provided to so many of our community members. Although we’re saddened that we won’t be coming together at the DECC this year, we remain hopeful that we will return to the traditional event as soon as safely possible.

We know that the need for access to food is a reality for many in our region, therefore, we are focusing on helping those who are most in need. We will be delivering meals again to those who are homebound as well as providing pick up meals at various agency locations, below are the details.

Delivered Meals for Individuals Who Are Homebound

Homebound meal delivery requests were due at noon on Friday, November 19. If you ordered a meal(s), your meal will be delivered between 8 a.m. and Noon (12 p.m.) on Thanksgiving Day. You MUST be home to receive your order, if you do not answer the door, the meal cannot be left due to Health Department regulations.

If you have not received your order by Noon (12 p.m.) on Thanksgiving Day, please call 218-723-6484 before 1 p.m. and leave your name, your address, your phone number and we will call you back to determine if we can get you another meal.

IMPORTANT: If we attempted to deliver and you didn’t answer your door, we cannot guarantee that our volunteers will be able to re-deliver the meal. If you contact us after 1 p.m. we will not be able to re-deliver your order as our volunteers are gone by that time.

Individuals and Families in Need

We are also offering a NEW option this year! Individuals or families who are in need of a meal, are able to go to one of our satellite locations and pick up food to go!

The meals can be picked up on Thanksgiving Day between 10 a.m. and Noon at the below locations:

  • Duluth Harbor Mission, 2910 W. 3rd St., Duluth
  • Damiano, 206 W. 4th St., Duluth
  • Volunteer Services of Carlton County, 199 Chestunt Ave, Carlton MN 55718
  • Select Ruby’s Pantry Locations
    • First United Methodist Church (Coppertop), 230 E. Skyline Parkway, Duluth
    • Peace in Christ Church, 5007 Maple Grove Road, Hermantown
    • Mission Creek Church 521 131st Ave W, Duluth

The meals will be in a to-go style container, and will be cold with heating instructions included. The meal includes: turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, relish, dinner roll and dessert.

These meals will be offered on a first come-first serve basis. Once a satellite location runs out of meals, they will not be replenished. We ask that you please only take what you need for your families Thanksgiving Meal.

Sponsor a Family in Need

Our community is known for coming together and helping those in need. We are grateful for the continued support of area leaders and our many sponsors who are making it possible for us to provide meals under these unique circumstances. Although volunteer opportunities are very limited this year, there is another way you can lend support. A $40 contribution* to the Twin Ports Thanksgiving Day Buffet sponsors 4-6 individually prepared meals for those in need.

*Sponsor a family meal that will feed 4-6 people

Volunteer

Since our 2021 event is being scaled back and we are not holding a traditional buffet, our volunteer needs are limited. Open positions are limited.
