The College of St. Scholastica

The College of St. Scholastica and Essentia Health recently hosted “CSS at Essentia Health Day” to recognize the impact of St. Scholastica alumni on regional healthcare and the shared history between the two institutions. The event focused on the intersection of education and healthcare, providing a space for alumni and professional networking.

St. Scholastica and Essentia Health are connected through the Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery, who founded both institutions more than a century ago. This heritage remains the driving force behind their joint efforts to improve community health through high-quality professional training. “This is a unique way to highlight the connection between education, workforce development, and community health that the College and Essentia share,” said Rose Carpenter ’22 (MBA ’24), director of Alumni Engagement, to WDIO. “It showcases the local impact of health care professionals serving our communities every day.”

As demand for healthcare providers grows, the partnership provides a direct response to the region’s recruitment and retention challenges. Dr. Michael Wendinger, Essentia Health Dean of the School of Health Professions, shared the urgency of the current landscape with WDIO: “In today’s evolving world, there is a shortage of healthcare providers, particularly here in the Northland.”

For those ready to make a difference in the field, you can begin or advance your career through more than 30 healthcare programs available at The College of St. Scholastica. Learn more at css.edu/healthcare.
