The College of St. Scholastica

The College of St. Scholastica welcomed the Class of 2029 to the Duluth main campus with an energetic Move-in Day at Somers Hall. On Friday, Aug. 29, first-year students arrived with their belongings, ready for Welcome Weekend.

Among the newest students was Avery Jacobson ’29, a nursing major from St. Cloud, MN, who shared her enthusiasm with WDIO: “I’m on the track team, and we start practices in the next few weeks, so I’m excited about that. And meeting new people.” As families assisted with the move, Ross, Avery’s father, expressed a mix of pride and nostalgia. “There’s mixed emotions,” he said. “We’re excited for her future, but it’s going to be weird without her around the house.”

Delta Leaders, Resident Advisors, and other upperclassmen played a vital role in Move-in Day and Welcome Weekend, helping incoming families navigate the campus and even lending a hand with moving boxes. Move-in Day highlighted the Benedictine community at the College, setting a positive tone for the academic year ahead.
