The St. Scholastica football team is gearing up for the 2025 season with Matt Bremer as the new head coach. As the team kicked off their summer camp with padded practice on Saturday, Aug. 16, Bremer shared his excitement and the challenges of stepping into this leadership role with Fox 21 Online. “It’s been a great transition. I mean, it’s been a lifelong dream of mine to become a head coach. It’s something I’ve always aspired to be and aspire to do,” he said.

Matt BremerBremer, who has been a part of the Saints for 11 years over the course of 2 stints, acknowledged the complexities of his new position: “It’s never as smooth as you want it to be, just [because] there are things when you take this chair that you don’t know about. Even seeing it from afar, you don’t know the questions that you’re going to get. All of a sudden, every single question comes to you, and so that transition of needing to have every single answer is certainly a challenge, but it’s one, again, that I dreamed about my whole life.”

The Saints will begin the 2025 season on Saturday, Sept. 6, against the Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran College in Wauwatosa, WI. Looking ahead to the season, Bremer outlined the team’s focus areas: “The three key things we look at are turnovers, so winning the turnover battle, their explosive plays, so that would be a pass of over 20 yards or a run over 20 yards, so our offense having more than our defense gives up, and then third and fourth downs. Having a higher percentage than the other team.”
