Announcing Erin Barnett as the new dean of Students
The College of St. Scholastica is excited to announce that Erin Barnett will join the Saints community as the new dean of Students, beginning on Monday, Aug. 11. Barnett brings more than a decade of higher education experience, having served in key leadership roles at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) in Richmond, KY, and Finlandia University in Hancock, MI.
“I’m excited to join The College of St. Scholastica as the new dean of Students. The warmth and hospitality shown during my interview process affirmed what I already believed, that this is a community rooted in care, integrity, and purpose,” Barnett said. “What makes this opportunity especially meaningful is how my own values align with the College’s mission. I look forward to working alongside students, faculty, and staff to support a vibrant campus experience and help every student thrive both personally and academically.”
At EKU, Barnett held various positions, including Academic Orientation Coordinator, associate director of First Year Courses, and director of First Year Learning Communities and Courses. Most recently at Finlandia University, she served as dean of Students and director of Academic Success and Student Life. In her role as dean, she also served as the institution’s ADA/504 Compliance Officer, Student Conduct Officer, Title IX Deputy, and Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Beyond student affairs, Barnett has led enrollment operations, implemented strategic enrollment management plans, participated in the HLC accreditation process, secured grant funding, and launched multiple student success initiatives.
“St. Scholastica is excited to welcome Erin to our community, and we look forward to the leadership, knowledge, experience, and student-centered approach she brings to the position,” said Dory Kempf ‘99, associate vice president of Student Affairs. “As we prepare for the upcoming fall semester, we look forward to having Erin on campus and engaging with our community in support of student success.”
