The College of St. Scholastica

Dear Colleagues,

Happy June! I hope your summer season is off to a wonderful start. Here on the Duluth Campus we’ve had sunshine and the happy buzz of new students attending Orientation – a beautiful couple of days to display our hospitality and Saints’ spirit. Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to ensure these new students and their families feel right at home.

Just two brief, celebratory updates for you today. Remember that our weekly digest has transitioned to a bi-weekly message which means the next one will come your way on June 17.

Athletics updates

St. Scholastica Athletics wrapped up competition for the 2021-22 academic year over the holiday weekend as the Track & Field program sent multiple individuals to the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the first time since 2016. Sophomore Calvin Boone competed in the men’s 1,500m and sophomore Lily Beneke took part in the women’s Hammer Throw with both finishing outside the top 15.

The honors kept coming in over the last few weeks for Saints Athletics. Women’s Golf’s Hannah Garcia and Women’s Hockey’s Lori Huseby earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The MIAC also wrapped up honoring All-Conference members. Softball’s Olivia Howe, Baseball’s Jack Perala, Track & Field’s Beneke, Boone and Samuel Eben Ebai Jr. all earned First Team All-MIAC accolades.

Stay tuned for an announcement of the new-look Saints Athletics in the near future.

A friendly reminder…

Summer hours begin today! Beginning Friday, June 3 and ending August 12, College offices will close at 3:30 p.m. on Fridays. This means that full-time and part-time employees will be able to start their weekend one hour early on the last day of their scheduled workweek. Enjoy the weekend one hour sooner!

Thank you for all of your meaningful contributions to our beloved St. Scholastica community! We do good work and we do it together.

Be safe and stay well,
Barbara
