St. Scholastica invites students and social service providers to attend a training seminar with Dr. Stephanie Covington, PhD, LCSW on Wednesday, July 20 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Registration is free and six (6) CEUs will be provided to participants.

Covington serves as the director of the Center for Gender & Justice and the Institute for Relational Development in La Jolla, California. She is considered a pioneer in the fields of addiction, trauma and recovery; and has developed an innovative trauma-informed approach for public, private and institutional settings.

During the seven-hour training, Covington will guide participants through a brief history of social services’ approaches, share an evolving understanding of trauma and addiction treatment, expand the definition of gender and working with gender diverse people and offer trauma and addiction informed responsive services.
