The Athletics Department of The College of St. Scholastica is pleased to announce the fall schedules for participating men’s and women’s programs. As the Department heads into its third year in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), there is much to be excited about, including new coaching staff, standout incoming freshmen and improved facilities for practice and games. Cross Country

Men’s and Women’s Cross Country will start their seasons on Sept. 1 at the Ole 5K Opener at St. Olaf College. The teams are eager to hit the ground running this season after the men’s team placed 6th of 11 and the women’s team placed 8th of 12 in the MIAC Championships in 2022.

Football

Saints Football is ready to start the 2023 season on Sept. 9 at Rockford University in Rockford, IL. The team will undergo a full season before Homecoming on Oct. 14 against St. Olaf College.

The season will be the first for Eric Eisenberg, defensive coordinator, and Justonee Jones, defensive line and assistant strength & conditioning coach, who joined the College in May 2023. Head football coach Mike Heffernan shared his excitement of the experience and energy the new coaches bring. “It was awesome having them both here during spring ball and now leading into the 2023 season.”

Golf

The men’s and women’s golf teams will start their fall seasons at a series of invitationals on Sept. 2, the men competing against Augsburg University and the women competing against the College of Saint Benedict.

Soccer

The St. Scholastica soccer teams will be among the first to play on the newly dedicated and returfed Kenny Harkins Field. Both teams will start their regular season on Sept. 1 with the women’s team against Hardin-Simmons University and the men’s team against University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Tennis

The men’s and women’s tennis programs will start their action in late September as individuals will compete in the ITA Midwest Regional tournament. Following the ITAs, the teams will wrap up their fall schedule with away contests at Carleton College on Oct. 7 and Hamline University on Oct. 21.

Volleyball

Volleyball team playing the gameSaints Volleyball is ready to return to the net for the fall, starting their season at the SMU Sugar Loaf Classic in Winona, MN on Sept. 1 and 2. The team comes off of a neutral 11-12 season in 2022 and is hopeful that a change in coaching will be a catalyst for a winning streak.

Chelsea Meierotto joins Saints Volleyball as the new head coach, becoming the sixth head volleyball coach to lead the program after longtime head coach Dana Moore announced her retirement after 26 seasons with the team. “I’m excited to get to work and be part of an institution with a history of success academically and athletically,” stated Meierotto.
