The College of St. Scholastica

St. Scholastica will host a book-release event celebrating a collection of poetry written by associate professor and English Department chair Ryan Vine, MFA.

The celebration will be at 4 p.m. Friday, April 20, in the third floor of the library on campus. Vine’s book, “To Keep Him Hidden,” has just been published by Salmon Poetry, and members of the campus community are gathering to hear him read and to celebrate his achievement. This event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.

“To Keep Him Hidden” was a finalist for the New Issues Poetry Prize, the Crab Orchard Series, the MVP Prize from New Rivers Press, and-selected by Robert Pinsky-the Dorset Prize.

His work has appeared or is forthcoming in The American Poetry Review, Poetry Ireland, Ploughshares, Verse Daily and on National Public Radio. He occasionally reviews poetry for The Minneapolis Star Tribune. His chapbook, “Distant Engines” (Backwaters Press, 2006), won a Weldon Kees Award and spent time on the Poetry Foundation’s contemporary best-seller list.

Additional honors include The Greensboro Review’s Robert Watson Poetry Prize, a McKnight/ARAC Career Development Grant, and a 2015 Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

The event is sponsored by the St. Scholastica English Department, the Honors Program, the School of Arts and Letters, and the Library.
