As the winter season approaches, The College of St. Scholastica warmly invites the community to a series of holiday events. From the serene Advent Vespers service to the spirited Messiah Singalong, these gatherings offer unity, tradition, and the shared joy that the holidays bring.

Advent Vespers and Lighting a Tradition

The St. Scholastica community is invited to celebrate the start of the holiday season at the College’s annual Advent Vespers service and Lighting a Tradition ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 2. Campus Ministry’s Advent Vespers will be held in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Office of Alumni Engagement’s Lighting a Tradition on the front steps of Tower Hall.

O Holy Night

The St. Scholastica Music Program presents the 13th annual Christmas concert, O Holy Night, on Friday, Dec. 5, and Saturday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. The choral, brass, and string ensembles will share the Christmas story and spirit through an unforgettable evening of music at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary in Duluth, MN.

Feeling That Gingerbread Feeling

The St. Scholastica Concert Band closes out the semester with a holiday program featuring music by John Williams from the Home Alone films, along with new works by Randall Standridge and Gavin Lendt incorporating timeless classics. This festive program will take place on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. in the Mitchell Auditorium on the Duluth main campus.

Handel’s Messiah Singalong

Join the St. Scholastica Music Program and Borealis Chamber Artists for the 43rd annual Messiah Singalong on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. in the Mitchell Auditorium. Warm up your vocal cords and dust off your Messiah score for a joyful evening with Handel’s beloved masterpiece.

Steel Pan Splash

Can’t get to the Caribbean before Christmas? No problem – enjoy some beach vibes and a variety of musical selections played on steel drums by the Saints Steel Band. The band will play on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Bent Paddle Brewing at 5:30 p.m. and again at 7 p.m.
