Foreign Credentialing Commission on Physical Therapy (FCCPT) options for foreign-trained Physical Therapists (PT)

The College of St. Scholastica (CSS) Doctor of Physical Therapy Program offers several options for foreign-trained physical therapists, both licensed and practicing internationally, as well as those seeking initial licensure (or an additional state license) in the United States. St. Scholastica offers one course designed to meet the FCCPT competency requirements.

Non-degree seeking

If you earned your physical therapy degree to practice in a location outside the United States, The College of St. Scholastica offers several courses designed to meet common deficiencies recognized by the Foreign Credentialing Commission on Physical Therapy (FCCPT).

DPT degree seeking

If you are a currently practicing PT in the United States and earned your degree in another country, you are eligible to enroll in The College of St. Scholastica’s transitional DPT program.

  • One recommendation from a PT/Physio
  • Essay
  • Resume/CV
  • Copy of credential evaluation

If you are a currently practicing physical/physio therapy (PT) in a foreign country wishing to attain your DPT for professional development, you are eligible to enroll in The College of St. Scholastica’s transitional DPT program. All classes are delivered in English where proficiency in writing is required.

  • One recommendation from a PT/Physio
  • Essay
  • Resume/CV
  • Copy of PT license to practice (where applicable)
  • Copy of credential evaluation
  • If English is not your primary language, proficiency exams will be required.
    • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), dated within two years of application. Minimum Scores of:
      • 79 on the internet-based TOEFL
      • 213 on the computer-based TOEFL
      • 550 on the paper-based TOEFL
    • IELTS minimum score of 6.5

  • Diagnostic Imaging - 2 cr.
  • Health Policy - 3 cr.
  • Evidence Based Practice - 3 cr.
  • Differential Screening - 3 cr.
  • Professional Integration - 2 cr.
  • Examination and Evaluation for International Therapists (Bridge program only) - 3 cr.

All classes are delivered in English where proficiency in writing is required.
