Mindfulness is the foundational human ability to be fully present and fully aware with a sense of being grounded or stable. When we are mindful we are open to perceive or take in what is coming through our senses. We are more apt to not be blinded by our own assumptions or past experiences or fears about the future. In this workshop we will explore how mindfulness or lack of mindfulness has an impact on our work. We will experiment with some basic practices that might help us be more mindful, open, present, and centered.
Perhaps there is no more important human skill than listening. Through attentive listening we are able to take in important information, become aware of diverse perspectives, and understand viewpoints that are different from our own. Even more important is the fact that listening tells those to whom we are listening that they are important, that their voice and perspective counts. This workshop will explore some of the key dimensions of deep listening.
