Dr. Merida Johns is founder and director of The Monarch Center for Women's Leadership Development, with a distinguished 40-year leadership record in the nonprofit and academic worlds. In 2012, she received the American Health Information Management's (AHIMA) Distinguished Award — the association's highest honor — for her outstanding leadership.
She is a former president of AHIMA and a prolific author and speaker. Dr. Johns is a visiting professor in the Health Informatics and Information Management Department at St. Scholastica and a well-known leader in the Health Information Management field.
The College of St. Scholastica is a private, Catholic Benedictine institution founded in Duluth, Minn. more than a century ago. Its degree programs are offered across nine locations — including Phoenix, Ariz. — and are nationally recognized for their quality — particularly in the field of Health Information Management, as the College created the nation's first HIM program in 1935.
