Upward Bound Programs

COVID-19 Update:

The Upward Bound team is concerned with everyone's safety during this pandemic.  The staff will continue to be available via phone and email.  The decision has been made to continue working virtually with schools and students through the fall.  We will continue to provide support and resources to all students in our program.

The College of St. Scholastica's Upward Bound (UB) Program has been successfully providing motivation and post-secondary preparatory support to area high school students since 1993. Each year the UB and Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) Programs work with 128 low-income, first-generation youth who have the desire and motivation necessary to successfully complete high school and go on to pursue a four-year college degree.

The College of St. Scholastica's UB Programs are designed to provide the motivation and skills necessary to help participants complete high school, enter a post-secondary education program, and succeed in post-secondary education by earning a four-year degree. To accomplish this ambitious goal, students participate both during the academic school year and in a six-week summer program.

The UB Programs have been extremely successful, with a 93% retention rate of all high school students served. To date, 99% of UB students have graduated from high school. CSS UB students go on to attend a wide variety of post-secondary institutions. The College of St. Scholastica is one of only 47 post-secondary institutions nationwide with at least five TRIO Programs on campus. In addition to Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math and Science, St. Scholastica's programs include Talent Search, Student Support Services, and the McNair Scholars Program.
