Musicorum is the Music Department recital hour for students and faculty in the music program. In 2020-2021, Musicorums are held on Fridays from 3:45-5 p.m., about once per month. The CSS Music Department Google Calendar is updated online and sent to students with specific dates. Music majors and minors are required to attend all Musicorums, unless you have a class conflict that you have discussed with the music faculty.
To receive credit for music lessons, music majors perform on Musicorum at least twice per semester, and minors perform once during each semester in which they are taking private music lessons. This forum gives students an opportunity to develop stage presence and the ability to perform in front of an audience. Appropriate recital dress ("business casual") and atmosphere are expected. A brief commentary on your piece is welcome, but not necessary. Students giving recitals in a particular semester should be performing on every Musicorum.
Once you and your teacher have agreed that you will perform, complete the Musicorum form by the Friday prior to your chosen Musicorum date. The form requires complete information, including composer and dates, movements to be performed, accompanist, approximate length, etc. The form will be automatically sent to staff and is used to create a printed program for the following week. If you need accompaniment for your performance, you must coordinate this with Emily Valine.
