Curriculum

Unlock new possibilities in your therapy career with our latest addition to the tDPT curriculum — the Professional Topics course. In addition to our Examination and Evaluation and Integumentary courses, this course is designed to enhance your skills in clinical decision-making.

As a student, you will explore topics such as supervision of support staff, assistive and adaptive devices, communication, work, job and school reintegration, environmental considerations, homework barriers, ergonomics and body mechanics, ethics, documentation, discharge and discontinuation, professional roles and behaviors, and legal and regulatory aspects of PT practice. You will also gain insights into cultural competence and its impact on therapy.

Available Courses

PTH 8960 Examination and Evaluation for the International Therapist

Designed for the international physio- or physical therapist, a focus on the acquisition and application of fundamental examination, differential screening and consultation applications in physical therapy practice. Students apply their knowledge of tests and measures for the musculoskeletal, neurologic, cardiopulmonary, integumentary and wellness in workplace systems. (3 credits; 15 weeks)

PTH 8965 Integumentary Evaluation, Management and Debridement for International Therapists

To introduce the management and assessment of clients with integumentary disorders. Factors affecting wound repair will be presented. Tests and measures to assess skin integrity and tools for managing integumentary disorders will be discussed. (1 credit; 8 weeks)

PTH 8970: Professional Topics for the Internationally Trained Physical Therapist

Intended for the internationally trained physical therapist to explore various professional topics within the Physical Therapy profession in the United States. It is designed to enhance clinical decision-making with regards to supervision of support staff, delegation, documentation, and discharge and discontinuation. (1 credit; 8 weeks)

All classes are delivered in English where proficiency in writing is required.

Non-degree seeking

If you earned your physical therapy degree outside the United States and are interested in current doctorate level education, The College of St. Scholastica offers several courses designed to meet common deficiencies recognized by the Foreign Credentialing Commission on Physical Therapy (FCCPT).

DPT degree seeking

If you are a currently practicing PT in the United States and earned your degree in another country, you are eligible to enroll in The College of St. Scholastica’s transitional DPT program.

If you are a currently practicing physical/physio therapy (PT) in a foreign country wishing to attain your DPT for professional development, you are eligible to enroll in The College of St. Scholastica’s transitional DPT program. All classes are delivered in English where proficiency in writing is required.

  • If English is not your primary language, proficiency exams will be required.
    • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), dated within two years of application. Minimum Scores of:
      • 79 on the internet-based TOEFL
      • 213 on the computer-based TOEFL
      • 550 on the paper-based TOEFL
    • IELTS minimum score of 6.5
