Application Checklist - Regular Standing Track

Admission to the MSW degree program is competitive and early application is encouraged.

  1. Request official transcripts. Transcripts must be in the original sealed envelope from the school, or from a certified electronic official transcript provider such as Docufide, Scrip Safe or National Clearinghouse (email to geoadmin@css.edu). Transcripts required: B.A./B.S. transcript showing degree conferred, any post-baccalaureate transcript, and any transcript with relevant coursework. 

    GPA:  Applicants should have a minimum of 3.0 GPA (on a 4.00 scale) or better on the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework.

    Please order early - transcripts can take up to 4-6 weeks to arrive. Mail transcripts for receipt on or before the deadline to:

  2. Complete the Online Application
    1. References: Applicants must enter the contact information for two professional and/or academic reference forms from people who can address the applicant's abilities and interpersonal skills, potential for graduate education and potential for professional social work practice. These individuals will receive an email request to complete an online recommendation form, with an optional letter upload. The subject of the email will include "Please submit your recommendation for *First Name *Last Name".
    2. Professional Statement: Please keep this response to no more than THREE double-spaced, typed pages. Applicants must upload a well-written professional statement that addresses the following:
      1. How did you become interested in social work?
      2. What motivated you to decide to pursue an MSW? If you have trained or worked in another field, what are you reasons for a change?
      3. Discuss those personal qualities and abilities you feel will be helpful to you in the social work profession. What do you currently see as your strengths and areas of improvement?
      4. Discuss any significant volunteer and/or work experiences related to social work or human services.
      5. What are your professional goals and plans in social work? Indicate which fields of practice, client groups, and special social problems interest you and why
    3. Resume: Applicants will upload a current resume or vitae with their application. 
  3. Interview: Applicants may be asked to interview with the Admissions Committee before a final decision is reached.
  4. If you have international transcripts or non-citizen status, you will need to send additional documentation. Please see the International Admissions Policy for complete details
  5. Discuss financing your education with OneStop early in the application process by calling (877) 287-8716.
  6. Upon receipt of all application materials, the application packet will be forwarded to the Admissions Committee for review and the admissions decision.

Admission to the Advanced Standing MSW degree program is competitive and early application is encouraged.

  1. Request official transcripts. Transcripts must be in the original sealed envelope from the school, or from a certified electronic official transcript provider such as Docufide, Scrip Safe or National Clearinghouse (email to geoadmin@css.edu). Transcripts required: B.A./B.S. transcript showing degree conferred, any post-baccalaureate transcript, and any transcript with relevant coursework. 

    GPA:  Applicants should have a minimum of 3.0 GPA (on a 4.00 scale) or better on the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework.

    1. References: Applicants must enter the contact information for two professional and/or academic reference forms from individuals who can address the applicant's abilities and interpersonal skills, potential for graduate education and potential for professional social work practice. It is preferred that one of these references be from a social work field instructor or supervisor.
    2. Professional Statement: Please keep this response to no more than THREE double spaced typed pages. Applicants must upload a well-written professional statement that addresses the following:
      1. How did you become interested in social work?
      2. What motivated you to decide to pursue an MSW?
      3. Discuss those personal qualities and abilities you feel will be helpful to you in the social work profession. What do you currently see as your strengths and areas of improvement with respect to the ten core social work competencies?
      4. Discuss any significant volunteer and/or work experiences related to social work or human services. 
      5. What are your professional goals and plans in social work? Indicate which fields of practice, client groups, and special social problems interest you and why
    3. Resume: Applicants will upload a current resume or vitae with their application.
    4. Fieldwork Evaluation: Advanced standing applicants are asked to upload a copy of their senior field evaluation. Students that have not completed their senior field placement at the time of application may uplaod a copy of their junior field evaluation.
  3. Interview: Applicants may be asked to interview with the Admissions Committee before a final decision is reached
  4. If you have international transcripts or non-citizen status, you will need to send additional documentation. Please see the International Admissions Policy for complete details
  5. Discuss financing your education with the Financial Aid Office early in the application process by calling (877) 287-8716.
  6. Upon receipt of all application materials, the application packet will be forwarded to the Admissions Committee for review and the admissions decision.

Application Deadline

Deadline: There is currently a waiting list for Summer 2014. The application cycle for the Summer 2015 cohort will open June 1, 2014 and run through October 1, 2014.
