2 + 2 Program in Management
Program Description
The College of St. Scholastica and Itasca Community College have joined forces by combining resources in a cooperative effort to give Grand Rapids area residents an opportunity to earn a four-year Management degree without having to leave the area! What a fantastic opportunity to get the degree you always wanted without having to uproot yourself or travel long distances to attend classes.
Basically, the 2+2 program means students complete their freshman and sophomore years' requirements at Itasca Community College and their junior and senior years' requirements for St. Scholastica…not in Duluth…in Grand Rapids.
Of course, if you have completed college courses, they usually are transferable, and you may have already met many of our requirements. Vocational courses do not transfer, but may be used as part of Prior Learning credit requests.
Degrees Offered
- BA in Management
- BA in Behavioral Arts and Sciences
The Management degree program will provide students with the tools necessary to manage effectively in any type of industry or environment including business, government, health care, and others.
The Management Major program will provide students with the tools necessary to manage effectively in any type of industry or environment including business, government, health care, and others. Management Major requirements provide students with a broad course of study that fits into a wide range of employment settings. The Behavioral Arts and Sciences (BAS) divisional degree will provide students a broad education with a special focus in one academic area. This degree tends to be more idea and liberal arts in nature because the quantitative courses required for the management major can be eliminated from requirements (accounting, micro and macroeconomics, algebra, statistics, etc.). It stresses critical thinking, writing, and communication.
Management Major
The goal of the Management major is to prepare students for managerial careers in a wide range of for profit and not for profit organizations. The major emphasizes the human dimensions of management and teaches students how to apply theoretical concepts to the solution of real world problems. In addition to completing the required management courses, students may focus on specific areas of interest through their choice of management electives.
Management Requirements. ACC 2210, 2220; CIS 2105; ECN 2230, 2280; MGT 2120, 3130, 3150, 3240, 3420, 4170; MKT 2320; PHL 3354; plus an additional 16 credits of upper division management courses that are selected by the student.
Although a management internship may be designed to earn more than 4 credits, the internship will count as only one elective course.
