Women's Cross Country - vs. NAIA Midstates Championship
Saints topple ranked teams at NAIA Mid-States The women of St. Scholastica experienced one of their best days of the season so far by finishing 4th of 22 teams at the Mid-States Classic on Saturday in Winfield, Kan. Their team placing was ahead of the #10, #17, #19, and #27 ranked teams from the most recent NAIA national ratings.
Always strong Jen Houck had a personal record time of 19:24 for 19th place of the 194 runners, but it was Stacy Kantola who led the Saints today with her own PR of 19:18, good for 16th place overall.
Kantola and Houck were only two of the five runners that ran to PRs as Erin Reicks, Brittany Peterson and Bridget Smith joined them in the PR-parade. Not be be outdone, Amy Wicker just missed her PR but still had a Season Best run cutting 45 seconds off an earlier best time from this season's schedule.
Three men competed at the Classic for the Saints. Ben Hadrich placed 142nd of 204 runners, Dave Seglem was 151st, and Joe Stromsness was 174th.
In split squad results, the remainder of the Saints raced at the Crown Invite on Saturday, the women placing 4th and men finishing 3rd. Kelly Nelson was a top-10 finisher for the women with a 5th place run, while Jim Skoog (8th) and Dan Seglem (9th) raced into the top-10 for the men.
