Women's Soccer - vs. Mayville State-NAIA
Saints split weekend matches
Breaking a six period scoreless streak and a three game losing streak, the women played to a 4-1 victory over Mayville St. in Grand Forks, N.D. on Saturday. Robin Johnson opened the scoring up for the Saints after taking a feed from Shannon Kresky, the goal evening the score at 1-1.
Just before the close of the opening period, Keely Raab scored her first goal of the season to give the Saints the lead entering the half. Becky Fisher stole the ball near midfield, fed an outlet pass to Kristen Stangel who one-timed it Raab for the go-ahead, and eventual game-winning, goal.
In the second half the Saints added goals by Kristy Shelerud off a corner kick from Pam Thomsen, and a closing goal by Kelly Bruss who was assisted by Johnson.
