Women's Soccer - vs. Advantage Cup-Bemidji State
Saints Play to 0-0 Tie In Opening Game

Once, a shot hit the post. Next it was the cross bar. And another sailed just high. Then there were the 14 saves by the Bemidji keeper. The Saints (0-0-1) put a strong effort on display in their 'stateside' opening game but couldn't find the back of the net, settling for a double-overtime scoreless tie with Bemidji State in the first game of the Advantage Cup Tournament.

Taking a total of 28 shots, 14 on goal, St. Scholastica spent much of the afternoon on the offensive. Freshman Robin Johnson ended with five shots on goal for the Saints while six teammates combined for the other nine. Senior Keely Raab hit both the cross bar and left post on separate occasions on the frustrating afternoon.

Defensively the Saints limited Bemidji to 15 total shots, holding them to only two in the 20 minutes of overtime play. St. Scholastica senior keeper Kristin Lammi ended the day with 11 saves and was aided by strong play in the defensive zone by defenders like Pam Thomsen, Becky Fisher and Dani Determan.

Next up for St. Scholastica in the Tournament is Dakota Wesleyan University at 3 p.m. on Friday. All games of the Advantage Cup are played at Saints Field on the campus of St. Scholastica.
