Women's Basketball - vs. WI-Superior
Big win over Superior just what the Doctor ordered The Saints broke a three-game losing streak with a dominant performance in their home win over UW-Superior at the Reif Center, taking a 14 point halftime lead and stretching it to 25 over the course of the second half in the 81-56 win.
Freshman Erin Niles made her first collegiate start and had the hot hand in the opening 20 minutes. Niles had 16 points entering the intermission, including shooting 3 for 3 from the 3-point line. She finished with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
The second half belonged to the Saints' Sarah Klocke. With only 7 points at the half, Klocke caught fire at the midpoint of the second, scoring 7 straight points for the Saints, seemingly from everywhere. A 3-pointer got her going, then a driving baseline layup followed, and she finished her run with a short jumper that pushed the St. Scholastica lead to 18.
Klocke finished with a game-leading 25 points, going 4 for 4 from behind the 3-point line, and added 2 assists and 2 steals.
Season points leader Jen Kne was the third Saint in double-figures with 17 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.
St. Scholastica pressured the Yellowjackets all evening, forcing 23 turnovers and limiting the visitors to one player in double-figures, Katie Moench's 13 points, more than 4 points under her season average.
Meanwhile, the Saints had their best shooting night of the season. Their 52% from the field included a 10 for 13 performance (77%) from the 3-point line.
