Women's Basketball - vs. MN-Duluth
UMD too much for plucky Saints

Battling for every ball, and bouncing through bodies in the paint, the Saints were still unable to overcome a talented UMD squad as they fell 81-43 to the Bulldogs in the Reif, on a rare Sunday game for either team.

The Saints never backed down from the taller Division-II Bulldogs but fell behind 48-20 after the first half, despite scrapping for every loose ball and rebound.

St. Scholastica held All-American Lindsey Dietz to 7 points under her season scoring average, and in the second half held the Bulldogs to 33 points and under 30% from the field.

Jen Kne led the Saints tonight with 9 points and 4 rebounds. Heather Saralampi also had 4 boards for the Saints and led the team with in steals with 2. Kim Huschle was 2 for 3 behind the 3-point line and Erin Niles was 2 for 2 but the Saints hit only 5 of 17 3-point shots in the game.

The loss moves the Saints record to 2-4 overall, and they now have a week before the next game, at home against Viterbo.
