Women's Basketball - vs. North Central Unversity
Saints have easy time with North Central

St. Scholastica pressed the Rams from the start, scoring the first 8 points of the game, and cruised to a 96-44 victory in their home opener.
All twelve players saw court time in the easy victory, everyone notching at least 10 minutes. In a statistical rarity, each Saint registered at least one rebound as St. Scholastica out-rebounded North Central by a 44-29 margin.
Four Saints were in double-figures for scoring, Whitney Latham leading the way with 17 including 3 for 4 from behind the 3-point line. Seniors Jen Kne and Sarah Klocke each had 14 while freshman Erin Niles had her best night of the early season by scoring 12. Niles, and fellow freshman Lacey Pixley, each had 5 rebounds in the game to lead the Saints.
After the opening run by the Saints, the teams traded baskets until the Saints broke into an 11-0 run to make the score 22-6. Later, they matched it with another 11-0 streak for a 40-17 lead, eventually taking a 43-23 lead into the half.
The second half was more of the same as the home team had a pair of 7-0 stretches, another 11-0 run, and then a 12-0 run fueled by Jackie Lekatz' 4 points and steal that started the run.
For the game, the Saints shot over 53% from the field including a second half at 64%. The 43 points in the first half tied their best output in one half, only to outdo themselves with 53 in tonight's second half.
The Saints are now 2-3 on the season and get ready for the challenge on Sunday when they host cross-town rival UM-Duluth.
