Gustavus defeats Saints in third place match
Seniors Jen Kne and Sarah Klocke scored 46 of the Saints' 60 points in their 73-60 loss to Gustavus Adolphus in the third place contest of the UWEC Thanksgiving Showcase.
Kne finished with 7 rebounds and 24 points, netting 10 of her 16 field goal attempts, while Klocke added 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and a block.
The Saints came within one at the 14:42 mark of the first half, but Gustavus took a 16-6 run to extend their 12-11 lead to 28-17, creating their greatest lead of the first half.
Early in the second half, the Gusties continued their scoring streak, taking a 43-31 lead and leaving the Saints roughly 10 points short for the rest of the contest. Despite coming within 7 at 46-53 with 10:20 remaining, the Saints were unable to match the Gusties.
The Saints take on North Central University (1-3) on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the Reif Center.
