Women's Volleyball - vs. Northwestern College
UMAC win streak comes to end against Eagles
The Saints were riding a six-match win streak against UMAC foes but Northwestern College ended that with a 30-23, 30-25, 30-26 sweep of the Saints in St. Paul on Saturday.
The Eagles held the visiting Saints to a .275 successful attack percentage, and only two Saints registered doubles figures in kills, barely.
Ashley Hanson was tops for St. Scholastica with 11 kills and 11 digs, while LeAnn Berscheit had 10 kills, 1 solo block and 3 block assists.
The Saints did play well defensively as Natalie Ristow (14) and Hanson were both in double digits in digs. Ristow also was 19 for 19 in successful serve receptions while Diana Moody was 19 for 20.
The match seemed to hinge on which team was more successful in the attack mode and the Eagles simply had better figures on the attack (.381), and in receiving attacks from the Saints as they had 72 total digs compared to 57 for St. Scholastica.
