Saints lose only two games of 14 over three-win weekend Finishing the UMAC Crossover #2 weekend with the highest win percentage, the Saints are positioning themselves for a run at the UMAC title.
The opening match of the weekend pitted the Saints against the Eagles from Northwestern. St. Scholastica grabbed the first game but fell behind by losing the next two. Facing a match loss, the Saints battled for the game four win to send the match to a deciding fifth game. As evidence of how close the entire match was, the final score of game five was 15-13 - Eagles - giving Northwestern the match victory (22-30, 32-30, 30-20, 27-30, 1-13).
The Saints got on a roll after that narrow game five defeat, not losing another game in their remaining three matches. First, the Saints defeated host UM-Morris in three (30-26, 30-22, 30-27), then Presentation (30-14, 30-18, 30-28), and then they dismantled Northland in three (30-13, 30-5, 30-12).
For the weekend, Ashley Hanson recorded four double-doubles totalling 57 kills and 57 digs, while UMAC attacking percentage leader LeAnn Berscheit added 38 kills and 29 digs. Laura Lief had 149 assists and 12 service aces while defensive specialist Natalie Ristow registered 73 digs and 6 service aces at the Crossover.
