Men's Basketball - vs. MN-Duluth
Saints fall in rival game with UMD

St. Scholastica had difficulty in the paint all night as they were outscored 36-16 down low on the way to an 81-49 defeat at the hands of down-the-road neighbor UM-Duluth.

More than two-thirds of the Saints points came from behind the 3-point line, Derek Johnson tallying 9 of the 18 points scored from there.

Brady Zubke led the team in points with 12, while Johnson added 11 -- all in the first half. Zubke also led the Saints in rebounds with 7 boards on the night, however as a team St. Scholastica was out-rebounded by UMD, 48-33.

The Saints opened the game strongly, leading the host Bulldogs throughout most of the initial five minutes. UMD grabbed their first lead at the 14:24 mark and by halftime, held a 39-22 lead over the Saiints.

Victims of a 12-0 run to open the second half, the Saints couldn't close the gap, leading to their fifth loss in as many games.

The Saints will now try to regroup before their home match-up on Saturday against UM-Crookston.
