Welcome to wireless access at The College of St. Scholastica

The network is known as Storm's Wireless Network. You will see this on your wireless laptop computer as "stormswirelessnet". Storm's Wireless Network allows users with a wireless laptop computer or PDA to access their K and R drives, GroupWise Web, Banner Web, WebCT and the internet. Storm’s wireless network is an 802.11b /g network.

Storm's Wireless Network is available to any student, staff, or faculty member with a valid network user id and password. To connect to Storm's Wireless Network you need to have an 802.11b or 802.11g compatible wireless network card in your laptop or PDA. If you use either a Microsoft Windows laptop or Mac you must also download and install a piece of software called Cisco Clean Access Agent. Instructions on how to do that are located here. If you are using a PDA or a Linux laptop you will need to enter your network user id and password when prompted.

Wireless access is a shared resource. As such it is not best suited for bandwidth intensive applications like downloading music, video and online interactive game playing. The more people using the wireless connection in a given area the slower the connection will be.

08/2007 - Great news! We have added additional wireless access points to the campus. The increased coverage areas are primarily classroom space in both Tower Hall and Science. It should now be possible to get a good wireless signal in most locations in Tower Hall and Science.

Moving forward we will continue to add wireless access points to further increase wireless coverage campus wide. If there are locations in Tower Hall and Science where you still can not get a good signal let us know. We will check it out and put that location on the list for future upgrades.
