Charles Bateman, Esq.

Mr. Bateman is a shareholder and director at the Duluth law firm of Downs, Reyelts, Leighton, Bateman & Hylden, Ltd. He is a litigation attorney principally engaged in the defense of personal injury and professional malpractice actions, including pre-trial preparations, negotiation, trial practice and appellate practice. He received his A.B. Econimics and Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, Defence Research Institute and an inactive member of the California State Bar Association. Mr. Bateman has served as Vice Chair and member of the Minnesota Board of Professional Responsibility, as a member of the Minnesota Legal Services Planning Commission, as a member of the State of Minnesota Legal Services Advisory and as a chair, member and clinical instructor for various sections of the Minnesota State Bar Association Civil Litigation. He is on the Board of Directors for The United Way and the League Executive Director for the Lake Superior Girls Fast Pitch League. He is a former chair of the Marshall School athletic boosters, the former President of the Duluth YMCA swim team, a former Board Member and President of the A.M. Chisholm Museum, a former member of the Duluth mayor's facilities task force and has received the Volunteer Attorney of the Year award.
