Reports, Data, and Other Information Sources There are many government, association and private organizations which work to make psychological information readily available. This listing is only a beginning. The most reliable indicator of the quality of the material is the reputation of the authors / publishers / site maintainers. In addition, reports which provide information about their own sources methods indicate they are willing to stand behind their postings.
National Institute of Mental Health
This is the central U.S. federal office concerned with psychological issues. NIMH's mission includes both disseminating consumer information as well as sponsoring, coordinating and disseminating scientific research in mental health. This opening page leads to resources for both researchers and the general public.

Drug Abuse Treatment Outcome Study
"The Drug Abuse Treatment Outcome Study (DATOS) is NIDA’s third national evaluation of treatment effectiveness. It is based on over 10,000 admissions during 1991-1993 to 96 community-based treatment programs in 11 large U.S. cities. Findings from the three Research Centers (at NDRI, TCU, and UCLA) collaborating with NIDA on this large project are summarized."
