In what began as a pitcher’s duel between Valparaiso transfer Peter Burg and freshman Josh Hawkins of Woodbury, the deciding final game of the SFL World Series was settled by Steve Kraushaar’s ringing three-run double off Wade Stadium’s right field wall as the Blues topped Gold 4-1 to win their first SFL title in eight years.

The real story for the Blues may be overcoming injuries with three pitchers (known as PO’s Row in the Saints’ Wade Stadium clubhouse). Pitchers Brandon Fritz, Adian Kummet, and Peter Burg combined for 13 hits and sparked the Blues offense just enough to win the SFL Cup.

Kraushaar led SFL with 12 RBI in 61 plate appearances and Burg struck out 28 in 20 innings of work. Including play-offs, the Blues lost just five times in 24 games.
