Women's Volleyball - vs. Martin Luther - UMAC Crossover
SAINTS REMAIN UNBEATEN AT CROSSOVER WITH WIN OVER KNIGHTS
St. Scholastica (8-10, 3-0 UMAC) was able to bounce back from a slip of focus in game two of their match with Martin Luther College (1-12, 1-2 UMAC) at the UMAC Crossover in Ashland, Wis., Saturday morning to stay undefeated in UMAC play with a 3-1 win over the Knights. After winning game one 30-25 the Saints dropped game two by a 26-30 score. They righted the ship quickly, though, and took the next two games in increasingly dominant fashion, 30-20 and 30-15, to wrest the match from an upset-minded Martin Luther squad. Shawna Varichak had a match-high 24 kills in the win, her second-highest career total, with Amy Thompson adding in 15 more kills for the Saints. Four Saints reached double figures in digs on the defensive side of the ledger led by Diana Moody's 27 digs. Varichak tallied 14, Cassie Roden added 12, and Megan Baartman picked up 11. The Saints defense -- digs and blocks -- limited Martin Luther to just a measly .111 attacking percentage while the Saints kept their offensive hitting streak going with a success rate of .272 following Friday evening's season-high .283 in their 3-0 win over Presentation.
