The Saints opened up their weekend at the Millikin Classic at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., with a quick 3-0 win over Rockford (Ill.) College.

Shawna Varichak helped push the Saints to victory with a match-high 20 kills and Amy Thompson added 11. Rockford failed to have any player in double-digits for kills.

St. Scholastica made easy work of Rockford in game one with a 30-14 victory, getting off to the quick start that head coach Dana Moore has wanted to see from her team all season.

The Saints handily won game two by a 30-20 score then were pushed to the limit in game three, a 31-29 victory that closed out the win.

When the Saints were on offense is when they seemed to be at their best.

They had 45 kills in the match to only 30 for Rockford, and accumulated 10 service aces in the three-game match.

The Saints improved their season mark to 5-7 and improved their season-best win streak to four. Rockford dropped to 4-8 on the year with the loss.
