SAINTS RACE TO TOP D-III SCHOOL FINISH AT UMD INVITE
St. Scholastica attacked the 5-kilometer course on Saturday morning at the UMD Invite and came out the highest ranked D-III team at the meet, trailing only Michigan Tech and UMD in the team standings. UW-Superior finished fifth behind Lakehead University, and Finlandia University was sixth. Freshman Julia Curry continues her fast start to her collegiate career with not only a second consecutive top showing for the Saints after two meets, but with a third place 5K time of 19:28 that rates 13th on the program's All-Time 5K list. Curry's time was a personal record by 40 seconds. Another first year runner, Jessie Lovering also ran to a PR with a sixth place time of 19:53. Tara Connolly finished next for the Saints (30th place) with a PR of 21:05. Rounding out the scoring for St. Scholastica were Brittany Peterson (33rd, 21:13) and Megan Salo (41st, 21:40). Eleven Saints recorded PRs at the meet with six more running to season best finishes. The Saints next travel to the St. Olaf Invite in Northfield, Minn., on Sep. 15.
