Women's Volleyball - vs. Ill. Wesleyan @ Elmhurst Tour.
SAINTS FALL IN INVITATIONAL FINALE

In their final match at the Elmhurst (Ill.) College Invitational, the Saints (1-3) lost a heartbreaker in five games to Illinois Wesleyan University (1-2) on Saturday afternoon.

After the Saints jumped into the lead with a 31-29 game one win, Ill. Wes. evened the match with an overpowering 30-10 win.

Taking the third game 30-24, Wesleyan was one win away from the match victory but the Saints rebounded to snare game four 30-24 and even the match at two games apiece.

The see-saw battle continued into the fifth game which saw Wesleyan eventually distance themselves from the Saints to take the match with an 15-11 win.

Shawna Varichak had 15 kills for the Saints in the loss, the third time she's reached double digits this season.

Defensive specialist Diana Moody had 23 digs for the Saints defensively, and teammate Dustie Richardson led the team at the net with 5.5 blocks.

Next up for the Saints will be the Gustavus Adolphus Tournament on Sep. 8 and 9.
