Playing their second nationally-ranked top-10 team in the nation on Friday night at the Elmhurst (Ill.) College Invitational, the Saints (0-2) were unable to get things going early and fell to Carthage (Wis.) College (2-0) by a 3-0 score.

Carthage stormed out to a 15-30 win over St. Scholastica in the opening game and the Saints inched closer in game two (20-30) and three (25-30) but it was not enough to topple the No. 8 team.

Shawna Varichak led the Saints in kills for the second game in a row, totaling nine in the loss. Setter Kati Berscheit had a match-high 26 assists and three Saints, led by Diana Moody's 20 digs, reached double-figures off the floor defensively.
