Women's Softball - vs. CROWN
11-RUN SECOND LEADS SAINTS TO ROUT OF CROWN
St. Scholastica (22-16, 13-1 UMAC) completed a Tuesday afternoon sweep of a doubleheader against Crown College (3-21, 0-14 UMAC) with their 19-1 win in game two after quieting the Purple Storm 13-1 in the first game of the day. The Saints pounded out 26 hits between the two games, and with the wins, clinched their ninth consecutive and 11th Upper Midwest Athletic Conference regular season title. They will move into next weekend's (May 4-5) UMAC postseason tournament as the league's No. 1 seed. Game two starter Katelyn Wood sat the Storm down in order in the top of the first then enjoyed a huge cushion the rest of the way when the Saints scored four in the first then 11 more in the second to jump out to a 15-0 lead after only two innings. Kathy Lobdell, Rilee Dawson, Kayla Kahilainen, Robin Lake, and Kristin Swartz each had two hits in the 15-hit attack by the Saints. Dawson finished with five RBI. Wood picked up her first win of the season surrendering one run on four hits and a walk, with one strikeout over five innings.
