Women's Softball - vs. Northland (WI)
NORTHLAND DEALS SAINTS FIRST UMAC LOSS OF SEASON

The last team to beat the Saints in regular season conference play back in the 2004 season did it again on Sunday afternoon in Ashland, Wis., as the LumberJills (21-15, 11-2 UMAC) took a 3-0 decision from St. Scholastica (19-14, 10-1 UMAC) to knock the Saints from the ranks of the unbeaten within the conference.

The Saints managed only four hits off Northland starter Brittany Schmitt.

Erica Kozacek moved to third on a passed ball and wild pitch after singling with one out in the top of the fourth but couldn't take the next 60 feet as Schmitt kept the Saints scoreless.

Katie Brown led off the bottom of the fifth with a double and one out later Kayla Kahilainen notched a single to put runners at the corners but Schmitt worked her way out of that inning as well.

Saints starter Rilee Dawson (12-8) pitched six innings and took the loss after surrendering three earned runs on six hits, one walk, and six strikeouts.

Schmitt (13-6) struck out seven and didn't walk a batter in the win.
