Women's Softball - vs. Minnesota-Morris
SAINTS COMPLETE CROSSOVER UNBEATEN WITH WIN OVER COUGARS
First inning magic again sparked the Saints in their fourth win of four games at the UMAC Crossover in Waconia, Minn., as St. Scholastica (19-15, 10-0 UMAC) rolled to an 8-1 win over UM-Morris on Saturday afternoon. For their third consecutive game the Saints jumped out to a lead after posting runs in the bottom half of the first inning, this time after a two out, two-RBI double by Gina Garramone scored both Erica Kozacek and Rilee Dawson. Kozacek's two-run blast in the third put the Saints up 4-0 and then they manufactured three more runs in the bottom half of the fifth following an unearned run by Morris in the top half of the inning. Chelsey Weiss was 3-for-4 in the game while Kozacek, Garramone, and Kayla Kahilainen collected two hits apiece in the win. Amy Jansen (5-7) started and picked up the win for the Saints, pitching seven innings and allowing only the one unearned run on four hits, one walk, and nine strikeouts. The Saints swept through the second conference Crossover of the season unbeaten and outscored their four opponents 32 to seven. They finished the first Crossover weekend a perfect 4-0 as well.
