Women's Softball - vs. Bethany Lutheran
DAWSON, KOZACEK GO BACK TO BACK TWICE IN WIN
Seniors Erica Kozacek and Rilee Dawson hit back-to-back homeruns not once but twice in consecutive at bats to help lead St. Scholastica (17-15, 8-0 UMAC) to an 11-3 triumph over Bethany Lutheran College in Friday afternoon's late game at the UMAC Crossover in Waconia, Minn. Chelsey Weiss led the bottom of the first off with a single for the Saints and, with one out, Kozacek stepped in and hit her first of two homeruns on the day to stake the Saints to a 2-1 lead over the Vikings after only three St. Scholastica batters. Dawson followed Kozacek with a solo shot that was her third homer in a row after finishing off her last two at-bats in the Saints' previous game with fence-clearing blasts that accounted for all three RBIs in a 3-2 win over Martin Luther College. After Michaela Carlson scored in the second for a 3-2 St. Scholastica lead following an unearned Viking's run in the top half of the third inning, Kozacek and Dawson went back-to-back again in the bottom of the third with a pair of solo homeruns. Dawson came up again in the fourth inning and hit her third homer of the day, a two-run shot that scored Kozacek, for her third homerun of the day and fifth in five consecutive at-bats. She finished the game with a perfect 3-for-3 day on three homeruns that netted four RBI. Kozacek was 2-for-2 with three RBI and three runs scored in the win with her two homers and a walk. Carlson was 3-for-3 in another perfect day at the plate for one of the Saints. Starter Amy Jansen (4-7) picked up the win for St. Scholastica, limiting the Vikings to six hits, two earned and one unearned run, no walks, and six strikeouts over five innings.
