Women's Softball - vs. Presentation
SAINTS GIVE PRESENTATION FIRST CONFERENCE LOSS
In the first game of day two at the UMAC Crossover in Morris, Minn., the Saints from St. Scholastica hung a loss on the Saints from Presentation College with a 12-1 decision that gave Presentation their first conference loss of the season. St. Scholastica (12-13, 5-0 UMAC) pushed two unearned runs across the plate in the top half of the second inning to open the scoring against Presentation (9-12, 6-1), then added another run in both the third and fourth innings to stretch their lead to 4-0 over the Saints from South Dakota. In the top of the fifth, St. Scholastica exploded for eight runs to break the game wide open. With one out, Rilee Dawson's double began a string of eight consecutive hits, highlighted by Krisin Swartz' bases-clearing triple, in which each player also scored. Dawson gave way to reliever Katelyn Wood in the bottom half of the inning but the damage had been done by the St. Scholastica bats. Dawson (8-6) pitched four scoreless innings surrendering only two hits with no walks and struck out seven to earn the win, and finished with a pair of doubles and an RBI at the plate. Michaela Carlson had a perfect 3-for-3 day for St. Scholastica and collected two RBI and scored once. Both Katie Brown and Kayla Kahilainen picked up two hits apiece in the game, Brown scoring each time while Kahilainen scored once.
