Men's Baseball - vs. Gustavus Adolphus Coll.
ERICKSON, BLAKE ELLER LEAD SAINTS TO SWEEP OF GUSTAVUS
For the second game in a row, St. Scholastica (22-4 overall, 8-0 UMAC) picked up another quality start, and finish, from their pitcher as Mark Erickson (3-0) went seven innings without allowing a run, scattered six hits and a walk, and struck out six to earn the win in a 7-0 Saints victory that gave them a sweep of the Golden Gusties (15-9, 9-3 MIAC). Centerfielder Blake Eller nearly hit for the cycle in a practically perfect game at the plate for the junior, finishing with a single, double, triple, and walk for a 3-for-3 performance. He also scored three runs and collected three RBI. For the day, Eller was 5-for-7 including two doubles and a triple, walked twice, scored four times, and had five RBI in the sweep. Eller’s one out single in the first led to the game’s first run. He stole second then came around to score on Steve Kraushaar’s single through the right side. Though that first run would prove to be all Erickson needed, Eller scored again in the third after leading off the inning with a double. Kraushaar and Darin Carlson each had two hits in the game and Kraushaar picked up two RBI.
