Women's Softball - vs. Martin Luther
McNAMEE THROWS NO-HITTER IN WIN OVER MARTIN LUTHER
In only her second collegiate start, Mary Jo McNamee led the Saints to a 7-0 win over Martin Luther College with a no-hitter in St. Scholastica's second game of the day at the UMAC Crossover in Morris, Minn., on Friday afternoon. The only blemishes on her day were three walks and one hit batter. She allowed only one base runner in the second and fourth innings before working out of a one out, runners at second and third jam in the sixth. She closed out that inning with a strikeout, one of only two on the day. At the plate for the Saints, McNamee's battery mate Gina Garramone had a 3-for-4 day with a pair of singles and a double, and collected four RBI in helping lead the team to their win. McNamee and Erica Kozacek each had multi-hit games for the Saints with two apiece. Kozacek registered an RBI and scored both times she reached base, while McNamee notched a pair of singles and scored once. St. Scholastica (11-13, 4-0 UMAC) closes out the first day of the conference Crossover unbeaten and kept pace with Northland College and Presentation College at the top of the UMAC standings. All three have yet to drop a conference game this season. Martin Luther drops to 4-21 overall and 0-6 in the conference, tied with Crown College looking up at the rest of the league in the UMAC standings.
