Women's Softball - vs. UW-River Falls
OPPORTUNISTIC FALCONS DEFEAT SAINTS

The UW-River Falls Falcons (12-3) made the most of their chances against the Saints (6-7), chipping away at St. Scholastica starter Amy Jansen for a 7-1 win on Saturday afternoon at River Falls.

The Falcons scored a pair of runs in the first on a single and homerun, two runs in the second – one unearned – on three singles and an error, another in the fourth on a single and double, then two unearned runs in the sixth on a pair of two-out singles that followed an error.

When the Saints were at the plate they couldn’t find a way to push runners around to home, leaving eight runners stranded including a bases loaded opportunity in the second with the score only 2-0 in favor of the Falcons.

Gina Garramone had a pair of singles for the Saints and scored their lone run on a Rilee Dawson single to center in the third.

Jansen (2-4) took the loss for the Saints, surrendering seven runs, three unearned, on 10 hits, one walk and six strikeouts through six innings of work.

The Saints were originally scheduled to travel to Des Moines, Iowa, for the Coe College Invitational over the weekend but inclement weather forced cancellation of the Invite and left the Saints and many other teams scrambling for games.

Along with the River Falls game, the Saints also picked up a game with Gustavus Adolphus following the contest with the Falcons.
